DIAGNOdent Early Detection of Tooth Decay
Utilizing the latest developments in dental technology, Dr. Siegel employs laser technology to screen for early signs of tooth decay.
The traditional way to detect tooth decay in the biting surface that might not be found in x-rays is with a metal probe. If the metal probe sticks, then there is a cavity.
Using the DIAGNOdent laser, we can detect early tooth decay - without uncomfortable metal probing.
How does the DIAGNOdent laser work?
The DIAGNOdent is a pen-like probe that sends a safe, painless laser beam into the tooth and checks its health. A number scale and an alarm will signal when there are signs of hidden decay. This allows us to determine if decay is lurking beneath the apparently healthy tooth surface.
This technology allows us to catch tooth decay at an earlier stage before the tooth is destroyed from the inside out and helps prevent more extensive procedures.
